Wallpaper tutorial

In this tutorial I am going to show you how to make a wallpaper tutorial, for this one I will use an image from the movie Twilight. The base image

I set the image onto the canvas and use a brush; at about 100px with a soft edge; and erase the edges

Next im going to add textures onto this piece to give it more depth. I chose these 4.

From Misplaced
I set this layer to Normal with a 68% opacity. And erase the parts covering the base image

From Shadow of the Day
I set this layer to Soft Light with a 100% opacity. And erase the parts covering the base image

From Shadow of the Day
I set this layer to Soft Light with a 100% opacity. And erase the parts covering the base image

From Shadow of the Day
I set this layer to Lighten with a 100% opacity. I then drag this texture to the bottom left corner

I now have something like this!

I add 3 gradients to colorize this piece and tie it all into one. All my gradients were from Shadow of the Day..

Set to Lighter Color with 51% Opacity.

Set to Soft Light with 100% Opacity.

Set to Hard Light with 42% Opacity.

I now have something like this!

Next, Im going to add filters, First I start with the Filter>Artistic>Cutout
Settings:
Number of Levels: 4
Edge Simplicity: 4
Edge Fidelity: 2

Then I add Filter>Artistic>Paint Daubs
Settings:
Brush Size: 2
Sharpness: 3

Now I add text, I found the lyrics on AZ-Lyrics.

I Place this piece of text onto the top left:

Vampires flock to me Because my blood is worth diamonds And it’s redder than ruby

This on the Mid-Right:

We steal a sun and hide it in our pockets And leave your bleedin’ world hidden in total darkness

And this on the lower-right:

And reveal the other half of me that never seems to appear

I add the border, a 30px black under the text layers and get something like this:

Enjoy =]
